Our Harvest
This generally takes place in the second half of September and the first of October. Despite the use of technology, the harvest still retains cultural links with past traditions, and this final operation in the production of the grapes must be carried out with delicacy to ensure a healthy product for the cellar.
Cascina Ronco has always operated manual harvesting, thus immediately removing leaves or imperfect bunches, supported by a transportation and unloading system with ‘self-unloading wagons’, specifically designed to protect the integrity of the product.
To date, this is the best method of mechanised collection, as the grapes are collected manually in buckets (with a capacity of 15-20kg) and then emptied into the wagons, strictly made of steel for cleaning purposes, from where the grapes are unloaded directly into the de-stemming and crushing machine.
